DALLAS 05'

So back in 2005 I was working at Doug Smith Auto Plex selling cars. Lets just say in the car business you have a little "Down time" on your hands while sitting around waiting for customers to show up. While working there I met a guy named Kurt Swenson. Once we got past the bullshit Kurt threw at me when we first met, we discovered we actually got along well. (he sat me down in his office and told me his job was to bring us "cocky" salesman back down to earth. See he was the finance manager. He thought he was a big deal!) So while we had all this "Down time" me and Kurt started kicking the idea around of going to see an NFL game. These day dreams slowly evolved into a reality. And before we knew it we had our tickets purchased and the trip was set. We decided just the 2 of us would be a bit gay, so we talked my brother Steve and my brother in law Morgan into coming. See Morgan and Kurt are huge Cowboy fans and Steve is a Chief fan. And since it was a the Chiefs playing the Cowboys, it was an easy sell.

Now before we get right to the trip details I have a small side story to tell. Our flight left early Saturday morning. Which meant friday afternoon at work we had all checked out. Our normal "Down time" had turned into "Totally Dick OFF Time". Chris England and myself where goofing around with Lance. We wear grab assing and all of a sudden Lance tore a button off my new coat. So I tried to tear a button off his coat. To defend his coat he decided to BITE me. Yep, you read right, he full on went Mike Tyson on my hand. So my natural reaction as I was being bitten, was to go Mike Tyson myself and I punched his ass right in the face. After I hit him we both looked at each other and immediately walked outside to talk. We each calmed down and decided to not speak a word of this, due to the fact we could get fired for fighting. Some people saw the "Scrum" and rumors were spreading fast. Plus Lances face was swelling even faster. We had to put some fires out. Then I went home and packed for Dallas.

Saturday we woke up early and hit the airport. We hoped our flight and we were Dallas bound. Just as we landed I turned on my phone and this picture popped up on my screen. It read "There are a lot of people asking questions Rick"
As you can see. I landed a pretty good shot on Lance. He says it didn't hurt, so I assume he must bruise easy. If you look close at the next picture below, you'll find the circle on my hand matches Lance's teeth.
I turned to Kurt on the Plane and realized there was nothing I could do about Lance's face from Dallas. So I decided to move on and enjoy the trip. Didn't think about it the rest of the trip.
The first night in BIG D, we wanted some good local BBQ. So we hit up a steakhouse that was great. Here Kurt is above with some of the wood used to cook the meat. It was all cooked over an open fire. It was awesome.
The Staek was like a 36oz or something crazy like that. Took up the entire plate. No room for veggies or anything on that plate.
Kurt and Morgan enjoying the grub.
Uncle Dave and Aunt Linda. They let us stay with them, use their cars, eat their food. They honestly roll out the red carpet for us when we are down there.
Sunday morning was game time. We loaded up early and headed over to texas Stadium. The old one. The O.G Cowboy stadium. The day before we hit the Cowboy pro shop and got all hooked up with Cowboy gear. Some spent more than others. Kurt was a couple bills shorter after going there.
Morgan and Steve in the parking lot before we hiked over to the game.
Kurt and Morgan. This was a truck in the tailgate area. NFL fans are nutts.
Here we are. Kurt infront of Texas Stadium.
Morgan went right to work. Trying to hook up with every "Hooters" girl working at the game.
Morgan and more "Hooter's" girls.
Steve and I watching warm ups. We got there about 3 hours early. It was awesome. We watched the players warm up and yelled at Ed Weirder (ESPN sideline guy). We also hung out in the big party tent outside the stadium eating BBQ and watching the morning NFL games.
Here the Cowboy cheerleaders are coming out before the game. Those binoculars around Steve's neck sure came in handy. For seeing the game better of course.
Look how happy Kurt is.
This picture right above is another story in and of itself. Steve and Morgan sat about 6 rows behind us. They had Cowboy fans on one side of them and Chief fans on the other. Some friendly wages were made during the game and when the game was over they became not so friendly. A full on fight broke out. Steve and Morgan were right in the middle of it. Fists flying and bodies piling up I looked around for Security. Nothing. Govern yourself. So I started climbing over people to go help Steve and Morgan. It was about a 12 man rumble. Again, no Security. The fight ended when we the other dudes quit swinging back. We all made it out ok and it made for a good ending to an already great game.
Here is a view from our seats. Great seats. Paid about $90 a piece. Game was back and forth. But Cowboys scored in final minute when Drew Bledsoe hit a young Jason Whitten for a touch down. Bill Parcells was coaching the Cowboys and Dick Vermiel was Chiefs coach. This was the year Larry Johnson of the Chiefs lead the League in rushing. He scored a TD right in front of us.
After the game we met up with Linda and Dave for a little Fajita blast. We ate great and had fun.

When we got back to work on Tuesday, Lances face was still jacked up. The managers bought our bullshit story of how we were wrestling, and neither of us were fired. For me and Kurt it was back to "Down Time" and day dreaming about our next trip in 06'.
